InfeStation

Infestation is a space-horror FPS where you try to escape an alien infested deep-space station, developed by Black Hole Syndicate. We are using Unreal 5 and Wwise to develop the game.
The game presents a number of interesting challenges and opportunities to push my sound design skills, including:
- A stochastic ambience system
- Voice-over
- Making convincing jetpack sounds
- Creature sound design
Stochastic Music
I helped design a probability-driven music system to maximize the game’s tension. This system leverages MetaSounds to procedurally generate music according to a set of rules. Here is an example of one such graph, the music for the Quasar puzzle sequence.
Voice Over
InfeStation features over 100 lines of voice over. Featuring Evelyn Cullen as the Player Character and Jonathan Larson as the AI assistant SILAS. This video reflects on our voice over process over the course of the project.
Making a Jetpack with Wwise
The player must navigate several zero-g environments with a jetpack. Creating its sounds with loops and samples was frustrating, so I opted for a realtime approach. Here’s how I made a pretty convincing jetpack with Wwise’s Synth One.
Alien Vocalizations
In an effort to create realistic yet otherworldly and terrifying aliens, I looked to classic techniques of creature sound design.
